Red Bull Junior Team driver Jonny Edgar was one of the stars of the 2022 FIA Formula 3 season as he raced with the Trident Racing team, battling for big point and podiums as well as with personal health issues.
The young Brit raced in the season opener in Bahrain but was forced to miss the following two rounds in Imola and Barcelona after a diagnosis of Crohn's Disease - an inflammatory bowel disease, which can cause major weight loss and cause severe stomach pain - but returned to racing, finishing the season an impressive 12th place overall.
I was lucky enough to be able to ask him these questions!
1. What is your favourite circuit you’ve raced on so far? Imola.

3. Who’s the toughest driver you’ve raced against? Jak Crawford.

4. If you weren’t a racing driver, what would you be doing? Selling cars in our family business probably.
5. If you could have any team mate, past or present, who would you choose? Sebastian Vettel.

6. Do you do a lot of work with either Alpha Tauri or the main Red Bull team? No...
7. How did joining the Red Bull academy come about? After winning the OKJ European kart championship in 2017.

8. You kicked off the F3 season in Bahrain, what driver on the grid caught your eye there? Isack Hadjar.

9. What would you say is your greatest achievement in racing to date? Winning German F4 championship in 2020.

10. As a driver on the Formula ladder, F1 is surely your goal, if that doesn’t work out, what other category/categories would you like to race in? Indycar or LMDH.

11. 7 of the current F1 grid are former or current Red Bull affiliated drivers, do you feel that means a Red Bull junior has a bigger chance of getting to F1 or a smaller chance? Same chance.
12. Carlin are a big name in racing, how much would you say they helped your development? They helped with the steep learning curve stepping up to F3 from F4.
13. What’s the first memory you have of watching racing? Watching my Dad compete in U.K. karting.
14. Your cousin Jessica is currently racing in GB4, does she come to you for advice? Yes and I do some driver coaching with her when I can too!
