Driver lineups if racing was an Olympic sport…

by Alex Johnston

Well over 50 nations are competing for an Olympic medal…I won’t be doing a line up for every country or I’d be here till New Year writing this. I will however choose 20!

Let’s put some rules in place though:

  • Team will have a two-car line up

  • One driver must be aged over 25

  • The other must be under 25 and over 16

Let’s go!

USA: Colton Herta and Josef Newgarden

📸 Two time Indy 500 winner, Josef Newgarden.

China: Zhou Guanyu and Gerrard Xie

📸 GB3 race winner Gerrard Xie.

Australia: Daniel Ricciardo and Oscar Piastri

📸 F1’s newest race winner.

France: Esteban Ocon and Victor Martins

📸 2022 F3 champion, Victor Martins.

Great Britain: Lewis Hamilton and Ollie Bearman

📸 201 podiums, 105 wins(and counting)…he and his Ferrari heir apparent could go for gold.

📸 South Korea: Heamin Choi and Michael Shin

📸 Michael Shin raced in FIA F3 for a couple of rounds and yes…homework was required for the other driver(he’s a GT4 driver!)

Japan: Tomoki Nojiri and Yuki Tsunoda

📸 Japan would be dark horses for the gold in my opinion.

Italy: Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Antonelli

📸 Kimi Antonelli has been tipped to go to the very top and already has a gold medal…at the FIA Motorsport Games!

Netherlands: Max Verstappen and Richard Verschoor

📸 Verstappen and Verschoor could certainly gun for gold.

Germany: Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher

📸 Seriously…can we have this happen please?

Who would take the gold in your opinion?

Other potential teams:

India: Arjun Maini and Kush Maini

Canada: James Hinchcliffe and Lance Stroll

Belgium: Stoffel Vandoorne and Amaury Cordeel

Brazil: Lucas Di Grassi and Gabriel Bortoleto
