Alex Johnston

Former Jordan Grand Prix boss Eddie Jordan has sadly passed away at the age of 76 following a battle with cancer.

Jordan announced in late 2024 he had been battling both bladder and prostate cancer but has now lost the battle with the illness.

Jordan is best known for his role as team boss for Jordan Grand Prix in the 1990’s and early 2000’s - his unmistakable yellow team a feature of grids in the latter stages of the team’s involvement.

Notably, his team gave opportunities to many drivers, most notably a famous debut for Michael Schumacher in 1991. His team entered 250 Grands Prix in total, winning four - the most famous of which perhaps for Damon Hill at Spa Francorchamps in what was a one-two finish for the team with Ralf Schumacher second. The team also took 19 podiums in total, with names like Rubens Barrichello, Jean Alesi, Nick Heidfeld, Jarno Trulli, Giancarlo Fisichella among the names to feature over the years.

Jordan was a popular figure in the paddock even after his full time departure from F1, featuring as a pundit, columnist and presenter in multiple roles.
