F1 Christmas: A grid

Alex Johnston

There has been 172 constructors entries to Formula 1 - so you’d think creating a Christmas themed grid with that many to pick from is an easy job…but this took me a longer time than I care to admit!

I’ve picked 10 teams based on their connections to Christmas…although it may appear to be a lack of connection! But i tried…(and I’m sorry). I have included the length of time each team was/is in F1 for the avoidance of any doubt.

1. ‘Alpine’ - The conjuring of thoughts of snow and mountains are an easy go to for a Christmas theme. (2021 to present)

2. ‘Virgin’(Mary) - Seems obvious…if a bit of a reach. (2010-2011)

3. Frosty the ‘Toleman’ - and I thought no.2 was a reach. (1981-1985)

4. Three ‘Spirit’ - Really hoping for some help for the Ghost of Christmas Future to complete this article.. (1983-1985)

5. ‘Simtek’ Claus - not happy with how much this one made me laugh. (1994-1995)

6. ‘Renault’ the Red Nose Reindeer - sorry. Very sorry. (1977-1985, 2002-2011, 2016-2020)

7. ‘Onyx’-mas tree - back to reaching again, but somehow not the worst. (1989-1990)

8. ‘Haas’ your self a merry little Christmas - We look like a bunch of… (2016-present)

9. ‘Brawn’ Cocktail - This took too long to get. Glaringly obvious. (2009)

10. Mincedes-Benz - Mince pie?…no? - at least that’s all 10. (2010 to present)

Mercifully, that is the end of this article(honourable mention to my wife for being able to think of more Christmas things than me!), sorry for the bad jokes(prepare for more), and from TheLaidBackRaceBlog: Have a great Christmas!
