F1’s first Sikh driver? 10 Questions to a racing driver with Ceran Singh Sokhi

Updated: Jun 27, 2022

The second driver to feature on ‘10 Questions to a racing driver’ is 21 year old Ceran Singh Sokhi. The Bristol based driver is not currently racing in any series but is seeking sponsorship so he can take a place on this years GB3 or GB4 Championship grid.

Having started karting 10 years ago, he’s yet to make his single seater race debut, and is meanwhile studying for his Bachelor’s degree in Motorsport Engineering at Hertfordshire University.

In 2014, Ceran was picked out of hundreds of drivers to be part of the McLaren Performance Academy, leading to being asked to join the official young driver programme before having to give it up due to financial difficulties.

This year’s focus is getting on track to race, and so hopefully, Ceran can get some backing and make his long awaited single seater debut!

Off track, Ceran is practicing Sikhism, and also models!

Without further ado; here’s 10 Questions to a race driver with Ceran:

1. Hairpins or chicanes? Chicanes are more fun, love the feel of the car through it!

2. Long straights or slow corners? Straights can somewhat ‘relax’ a little. It’s like a little breather in practice and feels good!

3. Understeer or oversteer? Oversteer is more fun to control,

4.Fast circuits or technical circuits? Fast circuits that are flowing, just feels nice to be in the groove.

5. Wet races or wet/dry races? Wet races, it’s one constant condition rather than in-between where you don’t even know what tyres to go on!

6. What’s your favourite circuit you’ve raced? So far it’s been Silverstone!

📸 A fan favourite, the home of racing; Silverstone.

7. What’s your favourite circuit you’ve NOT raced? Probably Donington park. I’ve done it on a sim and I just love the flow of the track.

📸 ”Flow”, Ceran wants a go at Donington!

8. Your favourite F1 livery ever? Has to be Ferrari. One of my favourite colour combos is black and red.

📸 It’ll look good; as long as it’s a Ferrari.

9. Your favourite helmet design ever? l would say one of mine I’m creating myself! It’s inspired by Vettel’s 2013 Germany GP win in 2013 and Charles first win with Ferrari in 2019. Overall black, red gold and some subtle blue. Apart from mine, would say Vettel 2013 Germany.

📸 Ceran’s helmet isn’t ready, but he was a big fan of Sebastian Vettel‘s black and gold design.

10. Who is the best driver you’ve raced against? So far I’ve not raced yet.. but at the moment it’s been Zak O’Sullivan who won British F3 last year.

📸 Ceran shared the Silverstone circuit with current Williams F1 Academy driver Zak O’Sullivan, now with Carlin Buzz Racing in FIA F3.

Thanks so much to Ceran for taking the time to talk, I hope to speak to him again later, hopefully with a single seater race debut under his belt!
