by Alex Johnston

Formula 1 bids farewell to a stalwart this weekend as Alpha Tauri Team Principal Franz Tost steps aside have led the team through their inception as Toro Rosso, all the way back in 2006.

The Austrian will have taken the reins of the Faenza outfit 351 times after this weekend and taken the team through highs and lows including wins at Monza for Sebastian Vettel and Pierre Gasly at Monza, further podiums for Gasly and Daniil Kvyat and guiding the team to finish above 'parent team' Red Bull in the early years.

Tost, 67, has been credited with helping the development of young drivers in F1 and helping both Alpha Tauri/Toro Rosso and Red Bull reach incredible heights.

Approximately 18 different drivers have worked under Tost's tenure, including race winners Gasly, Vettel, Max Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo and Carlos Sainz as well as dependable drivers such as Alex Albon, Daniil Kvyat and Sebastien Buemi, among others.

📸 Tost helped to develop a number of drivers, including now three time world champion Max Verstappen.

With the drivers he's helped, his contributions to F1 history will not soon be forgotten.

Danke Franz!
