Formula Winter Series, season goals and racing Imola: with Luka Sammalisto

Alex Johnston

Another guest! This time, it’s the latest instalment in long line of Flying Finn’s, Italian F4 star Luka Sammalisto answered these questions!

Hi Luka, thanks for doing this!

AJ: You’re currently involved in the Formula Winter Series championship - what’s the best thing about the series?

The best thing about the winter series is to learn new things and be prepared for the Italian F4 season.

What do you hope to learn from the series?

I hope to learn new things with driving styles and learn how to do a consistent and strong

race weekend.

You’re entering your second season in single seater racing - what was the most important lesson you learned in your rookie season?

In my rookie season important thing that I learned was to be more calm and start to understand how to drive the single seater because it’s completely different from karting and I tried to win the race in the first laps so basically, I do some crazy moves and usually during the whole 30 mins I was losing a lot more than winning in first lap.

What’s your goal for 2025?

My goal is to be top 3.

Who’s your racing hero?

Mika Häkkinen, I think he is the best Finnish F1 driver and I want to be like him. Don’t make so

much noise, keep working.

What’s been your favourite circuit you’ve raced on in your career so far?

Imola, because I think there it is really important that you nail all the technical parts of the track.

You’re with US Racing in Italian F4 this season - they’ve been relatively successful lately, was that a big factor in joining the team?

It was quite a big factor to me, an important one. Team working and everything is very professional and I like it a lot.

Bearman, Antonelli, Sztuka, Slater: All drivers who’ve broken records in Italian F4 - Is Luka Sammalisto the next one to keep an eye on?

It’s hard to brake the record but I am feeling confident about this F4 season and I think you should keep an eye on me!

Thank you!

A huge thanks to Luka Sammalisto for taking part and to Minardi Management for their help setting this interview up, more to come soon!
