Hamilton, IndyCar and an unlucky bird: 10 Questions to a Racing Driver with Matt Round Garrido

For this interview, I'm once again joined by Anglo-Spanish driver Matt Round Garrido!

Matt has raced in multiple different racing disciplines from Formula Fords to Formula Regional Americas and IndyPro among plenty others, racing against names like current IndyCar stars Sting Ray Robb, David Malukas and Kyle Kirkwood, Formula 2's Jak Crawford and many other well known names.

1. Who’s your racing hero or heroes? Schumacher originally then Hamilton when he came into F1 but theres a lot of drivers with things I respect about them. Peole who come to mind are Jim Clark, Mario Andretti and Ayrton Senna who were so good in a number of different scenarios where different skills are required.

2. What’s the first memory you have of   racing? When I was 4 or 5 years old karting in Pals, Spain.

3. What’s the best car you’ve driven so far? IndyPro2000!! (now called USF Pro)

4. What’s your proudest moment so far? There's a lot that stand out, but any race weekend that I had to overcome adversity to get a result, that's what I take most pride in.

5. Your favourite overtake you’ve ever done? There was a dummy I made in karting in 2013 at PFl into the chicane on a top driver at the time called Matt Davies. I think it was only for a heat win but even 10 years later it stands out in my memory.

6. Would you rather race on a street course or on an oval? Street course all day everyday!!

📸 On the streets.

7. If you could pick any teammate, past or present, who would you choose? Probably Hamilton. I'd love to see his data!!

📸 Imagine a serial winner like this as your team mate?

8. No gym, no sim, no travel, no racing; how would you spend a whole day off? In the morning I'd either do a bike ride or a run then walk my dog and spend the rest of the day with my family in an ideal world if I could!

9. If you could drive any race car, past or present, what car would you choose? IndyCar at IMS, blew my socks off seeing them in person and I'd love to experience it from the driving perspective.

📸 F1 veteran Marcus Ericsson won last year's edition of the renowned Indy 500.

10. What’s the strangest thing to happen to you while you’ve been in the car? I've set on fire, had wheels come off and hit a bird that was mid flight. They'd all be up there!!

Thanks to Matt for taking part in another interview with me! Hopefully we can do another one sometime!
