Nico Hülkenberg is set to extend his F1 stay, leaving Haas and joining the Stake/Sauber team that is set to become Audi.

The German has been one of the in form drivers of the season so far, taking points for Haas with some very strong performances.

Hulkenberg of course returns to the Hinwil setup where he spent the 2013 set up and becomes the first confirmed driver for the team in 2025 with Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu expected to depart - Carlos Sainz, Theo Pourchaire and current F2 championship leader Zane Maloney are rumoured contenders for the second seat.

With Audi’s takeover looming, the team will be glad to have secured a German driver, and a well experienced and established name in F1 for the next generation of the teams’ future.

Hulkenberg will depart Haas after two seasons with the team, having returned to a full time driver at the beginning of 2023 - Haas are expected to sign Oliver Bearman, who made his F1 debut with Ferrari this season already to replace Hülkenberg, while Kevin Magnussen’s future with the team could also be under scrutiny.

Hülkenberg is just the second driver confirmed to be switching teams in 2025, alongside fellow stalwart Lewis Hamilton.
