I'm delighted to get these interviews back under way for the year, starting with 2023 Indy NXT runner up - Hunter McElrea.


The California-born New Zealander took a stunning two wins and six podiums on the way to a runner up slot behind Christian Rasmussen and is now set to line up in the IMSA series in 2024 for TDS Racing in the LMP2 category alongside Charles Milesi, Steven Thomas and Mikkel Jensen.

1. Who's your racing hero or heroes? Scott Dixon and Will Power where an inspiration growing up.

2. What's the first memory you have of racing? Going to the race track with my dad as a 6 year old kid.


3. What's the best car you've driven so far? Indy NXT or LMP2.

4. What's your proudest moment so far?Winning my first Championship, and signing my first professional contract in racing.


5. Your favourite overtake you've ever done? Hard to pick a certain one, I had a nice pass at Nashville and Laguna Seca in last years IndyNXT season.

6. Would you rather race on a street course or an oval? Street course.


7. If you could pick any teammate, past or present, who would you pick? Colin Kaminsky was an awesome team mate.

8. No gym, no sim, no travel, no racing; how would you spend a whole day off? Golf, or on the JetSki in Australia.


9. If you could drive any car, past or present, what car would you choose? MP4-4 McLaren F1 car.

10. What's the strangest thing to happen to you while you've been in the car? a car hitting me and doing a barrel roll then sticking the landing(It’s on YouTube).
