Mattia Colnaghi may not be a familiar name to many but it’s very possible that if you’re going to sit up and take notice, the time to do so is now.
The Italian teenager has just won the Spanish F4 title racing for MP Motorsport a team generally associated with developing successful drivers on the road to F1.
Spanish F4 has been know as, sort of the ‘second best’ European based F4 series after the Italian version of the series.
The series has seen many incredible champions including: Formula 2’s Richard Verschoor, IndyCar’s Christian Lundgaard, Williams’ latest F1 sensation Franco Colapinto and the late Dilano van ‘t Hoff, tragically lost at Spa Francorchamps in 2023 at the age of 18.
📸 Franco Colapinto is arguably Spanish F4’s biggest success after his promotion to F1 this season.
Colnaghi now joins those names with the intention of reaching the same lofty heights as those drivers, with his next task sealing a seat in a higher championship but first…the streets of Macau in Formula Regional - his first competitive weekend in that kind of machinery. No pressure kid!
📸 Colnaghi’s next test? The narrow streets of Macau!
He is certainly one to watch, and one I’m very excited to see more of.
