Ones to watch, episode 2: Maya Weug

My next 'one to watch' is one who has been slowly appearing on the radar as she competes in the Formula Regional European Championship(FRECA) for KIC Motorsport and her name is Maya Weug.

Straight off the bat, Weug is a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, a surefire sign that she has incredible backing and that someone has strong belief in her ability.

📸 Hopping into the FRECA machine.

Prior to this year's FRECA campaign, the 19 year old raced in Italian and ADAC F4 with a highest season finish of 14th, last year.

Now, she finds herself 13th in the FRECA standings, scoring points in 3 of the last 4 races and moving up the order in a strong field that features Martinius Stenshorne, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, fellow Ferrari junior Rafael Camara and Tim Tramnitz.

📸 On track.

Fact: Maya has triple nationality, and has raced under Belgian, Spanish and Dutch flags.

Could Maya Weug be the biggest hope for a female driver reaching F1 at the moment?
