Ones to watch, episode 3: Alex Dunne

A number of you will have heard of this driver, but at this moment in time it looks as though Irish teenager Alex Dunne, someone I've had the pleasure of interviewing a couple times already, is destined for a career right at the top.

At the time of writing, Dunne is second in the GB3 Championship but has come on leaps and bounds since his single seater debut in 2021, sealing a championship title in British F4 in dominating fashion last year, finishing second in Italian F4 as well, as he ran two championships simultaneously.

GB3 is incredibly competitive this year and features Michael Shin, Max Esterson and McKenzy Cresswell who have debuted in FIA Formula 3 this year, as well as 2022 Chinese F4 champion Gerrard Xie, 2022 GB4 champion Jarrod Waberski and Joseph Loake, who won races versus Dunne in British F4.

Dunne has taken 2 wins so far this year, both at Spa as well as a further podium at the Snetterton, showing his ability as a regular points finisher with fine consistency to launch himself into title contention with 3 rounds(9 races) to go.

Dunne is in a great position with Hitech, who have lofty ambitions of their own, with Dunne hoping to be a part of that, starting with the step to Formula 3 in 2024. At just 17, he's got incredible potential.
