Sean Bull, McLaren and Nurburgring: 10 Questions to a Racing Driver with Hugh Barter

Updated: Mar 7, 2023

My latest guest caught the eye this weekend in FIA Formula 3 as he debuted in the series! Japan born Australian driver Hugh Barter spoke with me over the race weekend and answered the '10 Questions'!

Hugh has stepped up to F3 this year with Campos Racing after competing with the team last year in Spanish F4, finishing second.

📸 In a celebratory mood!

As well as the Spanish championship, Hugh competed in the French F4 Championship, with the FFSA Academy over 2021 and 2022, finishing second at both attempts.

Hugh caught the eye this weekend as he qualified P5 for the opening F3 race weekend on his debut!

Onto the questions!

1. Hairpins or chicanes? Hairpins.

2. Long straights or slow corners? Slow corners.

3. Understeer or oversteer? Oversteer.

📸 On track.

4. Fast circuits or technical circuits? Technical.

5. Wet races or wet/dry races? Wet.

6. What's your favourite circuit you've raced? Spa.

📸 Stunning Spa.

7. Favourite you've NOT raced? Nurburgring.

📸 Nurburgring(top) hosted several F1 races, most recently in 2020, while the outer Nordschleife(bottom) circuit would be a huge bucket list circuit to drive,

8. Your favourite F1 livery ever? I think a classic is the Marlboro McLaren livery but I do really like the Alpine livery especially since it's designed by Sean Bull.

📸 The iconic Marlboro liveried McLaren(top), and this years two editions of the Alpine A523 in pink(middle) and the regular design(bottom).

9. Your favourite helmet design ever? Mine hahahaha!

10. Who is the best driver vou've raced against? Nikola Tsolov.

Thanks to Hugh for his time and for the interview! Hopefully we can do another one soon and have another chat!

Best of luck to him this season! The next F3 race is in Australia at the start of April.
