‘Sending it’, not being an oval fan and “super fun” Alex Garcia: 10 Questions to a Racing Driver with Nikita Bedrin

by Alex Johnston

I'm delighted to welcome back on Nikita Bedrin, who I first interviewed as a Formula 4 driver when I first started this blog in 2022! Nikita will be racing his sophomore season in FIA Formula 3 this year, moving from Jenzer to PHM AIX Racing.

Nikita mustered up two podiums in F3 for Jenzer, one at Hungary and another at a wet and wild Belgian GP weekend as his Jenzer team finished with all three cars in the top four.

📸 Nikita came home third at the Hungarian GP weekend.

Additionally, he's spent the early part of this year getting race ready in the F4 UAE Championship, winning three races.

Onto the interview!

1. Who's your racing hero or heroes? I dont really have a racing hero, I like many drivers from Formula 1 but don't have one in particular.

2. What's the first memory you have of racing? My first memory I have is when I did my first ever race, and on the last lap I was P3, but I didnt defend in the second last corner and got overtaken. I was really sad after that as I could have finished 3rd😂

3. What's the best car you've driven so far? Best I have driven so far is for sure FIA F3, as it's super fast and has a lot of downforce in the corners, its amazing to feel the G forces in high speed corners.

4. What's your proudest moment so far?Difficult to answer to what is my proudest moment, I had a few, Hungaroring last year was quite cool for me, also some FRECA races from last year made me quite happy.

📸 Nikita sampled FRECA cars after the F3 season ended, racing for Monolite and VAR, taking a podium at Hockenheim.

5. Your favourite overtake you've ever done? I have to say it was on the outside of T3 in Barcelona last year, I was fully behind a guy at the enter of the corner, but decided to fully send the speed around the outside and made it stick.

6. Would you rather race on a street course or on an oval? I would for sure choose a street circuit. I'm not a fan of oval racing, one mistake and you are dead!

Not a fan of ovals then, Nikita?

7. If you could pick any teammate, past or present, who would you choose? Alex Garciaaaa! He is super fun and a cool guy! But for competition and good work with probably Bearman or Barnard as they both are really fast.

📸 Alejandro 'Alex' Garcia, who has moved LMP2 cars this year with COOL Racing.

8. No gym, no sim, no travel, no racing; how would you spend a whole day off? I would for sure play padel, as I really like it as a hobby. Would play some PC, if it's a day off then no school as well, then probably watch Netflix or hangout with friends.

9. If you could drive any race car, past or present, what car would you choose? I would probably say Formula 1 from 2021 of Mercedes or some old F1 maybe from 1960's and 1990's. But if talking about a normal road car then probably Porsche GT3RS or Brabus Rocket 900.

📸 The Brabus car: powered by 4.5l twin turbocharged V8 engine producing 900hp and a max speed of 205mph..enough to make any car enthusiast a 'little bit' excited!

10. What's the strangest thing to happen to you while you've been in the car? Probably hearing other teams and drivers speaking somehow to my radio channel! 😂

Thanks to Nikita for his time and we wish him the very best of luck for his F3 season!
