Senna, Indy, off-roading and ‘The Snake’: 10 Questions to a Racing Driver with Jagger Jones

Every now and then a name comes up in the racing world that you'll never forget and that certainly applies to my latest guest; Jagger Jones.

Jagger is from a racing family, with his grandfather Parnelli Jones notably the winner of the 1963 Indy 500, while his father P.J Jones also raced, winning the 1993 24 Hours of Daytona, his brother Jace has raced in the ARCA Menards series and uncle Page Jones also spent a portion of his life racing.

Jagger is stepping up to Indy NXT with Cape Motorsports this year, having placed 4th in the USF 2000 National Championship in 2022, winning once and scoring 5 podiums as well as 3 pole positions in his first year of single seaters having sampled NASCAR machinery in the formative years of his career.

Onto the questions!

1. Hairpins or chicanes? I think a mixture of everything makes a great race racetrack but if there could only be one then hairpins

2. Long straights or slow corners? I like slow corners. More technical.

3. Understeer or oversteer? Oversteer. It’s hard to make understeer go fast but oversteer you can adjust you’re driving more to suit it.

4. Fast circuits or technical circuits? I would say technical tracks have suited me the best in the past.

5. Wet races or wet/dry races? I like full wet or full dry. The in between be quite challenging to get the tires and setup right.

6. Favourite Circuit you've raced on? Indianapolis Road Course is super fun. High speed and low speed corners super fun.

7. Favourite you've NOT raced on? I can’t wait to run on the Indy oval. So much history to that track.

8. Favourite F1 livery ever? Any classic Gulf livery.

📸 Gulf will return with Williams this year having last featured on this McLaren in 2021.

9. Favourite helmet design ever? Senna. So iconic.

📸 Instantly recognisable.

10. Who's the best driver you've raced against? I got to do an off-road race with drag racing legend 'The Snake' Don Prudhomme. Hard to top that!

Thanks Jagger for the great chat, and the next of luck to you for the year ahead! I look forward to hopefully chatting with you again.
