Starting late and aiming for F1 Academy: Imogen Radburn with Kiera Rockley

Kiera Rockley

Whilst most drivers start their racing careers early on in childhood, Imogen Radburn started karting at 14. She used this to fuel her determination. “I had to work harder to catch up”, she explained. “But it gave me a unique mindset. I approached every race with the mentality of earning my place rather than expecting it”. This enabled her to become a disciplined and adaptable competitor on the track.

Imogen shared one of the highlights of her career, which was securing third place at the

Australian F4 championship in Sydney. “It was only my second time in an F4 car”, she recalled.

“I stalled at the start and had to fight my way up from 13th place. Overcoming that setback and

executing multiple overtakes made the podium finish incredibly rewarding”.

Having strong mentors has played a crucial role in imogens progress as a racing driver. V8

Supercar driver Cameron Hill has been a key figurehead since selecting her for his Formula

Ford team in 2020. “I am incredibly lucky to work closely with Cam”. Radburn says. “He has

been an essential part of my development as a driver”. Furthermore, her work at Driving

Solutions has allowed her to connect with several motorsport professionals.

In her pursuit for an F1 Academy seat, Imogen has been continuously building her skillset and

attracting fantastic opportunities, such as testing with Rodin Motorsport. “Since wildcard

selection is my best pathway without direct funding, I am making sure I’m fully prepared when the opportunity arises”. This support from Rodin Motorsport has allowed her to stay competitive and improve on racing techniques.

For Imogen, earning a seat in F1 Academy isn’t just about personal success, but about

representation. “It would be a huge milestone, not just for me but for everyone who has

supported me. It would prove that alternative paths to success exist in motorsport and inspire

more young women to chase their dreams”.

Imogen has a strong passion for paving the way for other young female racers. Girls on track is

an initiative Radburn has used to expand her network in the motorsports industry, and now sheplays a role in mentoring others. “I am proud to be involved in a different way now, running

driver sections of the program, sharing my journey through speeches, and being present at

events to inspire more young women”.

As her career progresses, Radburn remains focused on refining her technique and embracingnew challenges. “I look forward to becoming a better driver while also meeting more likeminded individuals. I want to continue to share my three key values: Drive, Inspire, empower–encouraging fellow females in motorsport and beyond”. Imogen Radburn will be a name to watch out for in the coming months and years, with her relentless work ethic and and strategicmindset, she is on the track to success. Her journey is proof that determination and perseverance can make up for lost time.
