My latest ‘10 Questions’ guest has me very excited. I managed to speak with Alex Dunne. Alex is a very highly rated young Irish driver, currently competing in Italian F4 with US Racing as well as British F4 with Hitech Grand Prix in what is a busy year.
The 16 year old grew up idolising F1 legend Ayrton Senna and now has his eyes set on reaching F1 like his hero.
Dunne currently is leading the Italian F4 standings ahead of Ferrari Academy Driver Rafael Camara, in a series where he’s competing against Charlie Wurz, Brando Badoer and Emerson Fittipaldi Jr - all sons of former stars of F1(Alex Wurz, Luca Badoer and Emerson Fittipaldi) as well as other drivers tipped for stardom like Mercedes junior Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Nikita Bedrin and Norwegian star Martinius Stenshorne.
In British F4 he’ll race against another Mercedes junior in Daniel Guinchard as well as against McLaren junior driver Ugo Ugochukwu and Williams Racing’s Ollie Gray.
Anyway; onto the questions!
1. Hairpins or chicanes? Chicanes, especially the fast ones, as I really enjoy the change of direction, and the precision required!
2. Long straights or slow corners? Slow corners after a long straight as I enjoy the feeling of heavy braking!
3. Understeer or oversteer? Oversteer, as I feel very comfortable with the car floating and find it easy to extract lap time.
4. Fast circuits or technical circuits? Fast circuits, as I really enjoy the feeling of high speed corners, like Pouhon at Spa for example!

5.Wet races or wet/dry races? Wet/dry, because although they can be very tricky, I enjoy searching for the grip, and how precise you have to be!
6. What’s your favourite circuit you’ve raced? Spa, don’t think that needs an explanation! 😂

7. What’s your favourite circuit you’ve NOT raced? Monaco, the idea of driving on the limit, inches away from the wall, and a slight mistake can mean a lot!

8. Your favourite F1 livery ever? I like them all, but the McLaren Gulf livery at Monaco(2021) really stood out for me!

9. Your favourite helmet design ever? Max Verstappen’s white Red Bull helmet is probably my favourite!

10. Who is the best driver you’ve raced against? I think that’s hard to say as I’ve raced against a lot of good drivers, but if I were to name 3 I would say; Kimi Antonelli, Gabriele Mini and Taylor Barnard!

Alex is next in action at the Misano World Circuit in Italian F4 on the 3rd to 5th of June for round two of the championship.
